~

august the first ( self-explanatory stuff )

the air was stone & damson jam

no breeze did crow as also ran

the fields were burst & baling twine

as bees had thirst for summer's wine

the scene was sewn when church bells rang

the die were thrown as baskets hang

the pine trees stirred as ivy climbed

& polecats purred as snail trails slimed

the streams still flowed as blackbirds sang

& knees still groaned when nettles stang

the cogs still burred a certain rhyme

as magpies slurred - it's curtains time

...
